2008/2009
The
society exists to highlight and record the tremendous heritage that
has been left us in the area and to record it for the benefit of
present and future generations.
This has already been done with the publication of a book Cogenhoe
- A Century of Change by Dr Steven Hollowell and the CD Voices of
Cogenhoe which can be obtained from Dr Hollowell on Cogenhoe 890346.
Chairman of the society is Mr Ted Barnes on 891585.
Membership
is open to anyone and entry to open meetings is £1 for members and
£3 for visitors.

In May, on the 10th at 7.30 pm
Steven Hollowell will be giving us his third and final talk
on the Great War, entitled The Great War: A Close Call He
will be considering and describing the final German push which
led to the November ceasefire and how these momentous events
affected local families. The meeting will be in the York Room of
the Village Hall. All welcome. Members £1, visitors £3. Raffle.

Each year we arrange for a few
meetings on Wednesday afternoons and these have proved very
popular. Our first one this season is on the 10th June "Old
Cures and Remedies" given by Kate Wills. Kate has a
particular interest in the cures and remedies of our Victorian
ancestors, but will also take us for a sweeping look back
through the ages. The meeting will be at 2.30 pm in the York
Room of the Village Hall. All welcome. Members £1, visitors £3.
